  • Friday, October 20 is a Dress Down Day for “United in Pink”. Students may bring a $1 donation and wear jeans and a spirit top or a pink clothing. This Middle Georgia area outreach supports families of those fighting breast cancer.
    •   Next Tuesday and Wednesday, October 24 and 25 are early       dismissal days. Elementary will be dismissed at noon. Lunch     will be served on both days. Our Fall Festival will be held on     Tuesday afternoon from 12-3. Parent-Teacher conferences will     be held on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.
    •  ***Be sure to return the note in Thursday's signed papers this week indicating "pick up" plans for Fall Festival.
    • Second Quarter AR goal info is 5 passed A.R. tests on chapter books before Dec 15. AR Book Finder is linked on the right.
  • BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR 3RD GRADER PRACTICE 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s AND 10s MULTIPLICATION FACTS  FOR A FEW MINUTES EACH DAY. STUDENTS MAY ENJOY USING MATH GAMES ON THE EVERYDAY MATH WEBSITE OR OTHER APPS LIKE MY MATH APP ,  NEON TIMES TABLES, ETC.  ALL STUDENTS HAVE EVERYDAY MATH LOG-IN INFO IN HOMEWORK PLANNERS.
  • Unit 3 "Operations" focuses on using place value to develop and practice strategies for addition and subtraction of 2- and 3-digit numbers. We will explore partial-sums addition, column addition, counting-up subtraction, and expand-and-trade subtraction. We will also represent multiplication using arrays, and use these representations to develop strategies like "adding a group" and "subtracting a group" for solving multiplication facts. 
  • We have begun reading our next book - a third grade favorite - Charlotte’s Web.  We love reading about our favorite spider,  just in time for fall! 
  • Jonathan’s Thanksgiving
  • Practices have begun for our annual 3rd grade Thanksgiving play, Jonathan’s Thanksgiving. Plays will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 8:45 in each classroom. (Brittain/Justice play will be held in Mrs. Justice's room.). Parents, grandparents, and siblings are invited to attend! Look for info about costumes in this week's papers.
