We will complete Unit 2 in Math next week. The partial sums algorithm will soon become EASY for the children.  Let them teach you how to use it.  It’s another method of addition that helps students to see how our number system is simply patterns. We also call the old-fashioned “borrowing” method of subtraction “trade first” to help us see the regrouping that takes place in subtraction.
We are enjoying reading the delightful book, Rent a Third Grader.  We are learning how the class worked together to save a beloved member of their community.
Flat Stanleys are arriving daily! We look forward to learning all the fun places Stanley has been!
We are enjoying our Macon unit so much and have learned some interesting facts about Macon. Our Downtown Tour will be the perfect complement to our unit!
Our third grade scientists are busy researching how soil is made.  Be sure to encourage your child to notice signs of erosion and weathering!
